The Alliance Française is only European Cultural Center in all of the Eastern Cape. We organize major cultural events each year, such as the AF Street Music Festival, Chill Afrkan Art Festival and the French-Speaking Festival , Francophonie. A rich program of social events, film screenings and conferences is regularly offered in our Mackay Street Victorian building. Our multimedia library is available for students and members. It includes thousands French books, music and DVDs as well as a dedicated section for our students with relevant resources to develop their French skills.

The Alliance Française of Port Elizabeth was founded in 1960. It was first situated in Bird Street, in the city centre of the Heritage site before moving to the historical site of Richmond Hill in 1990, where it now owns a beautiful Victorian House.
