Evanthea Chiwara
Come and sing along to the sounds of Evanthea Chiwara at the Alliance Française Street Music Festival 🥳 Evanthea has been singing and playing the mbira for as long as she can remember but it wasn’t until 2019 that she went into studio to record her first album. Juice
The Juice band was put together after Miguel Espinoza, who plays guitar, asked Andrew Warneke, who plays bass, to play a couple of gigs with him. Andrew thought it’d be cool to put him into a band with John Edwards on piano and Kristo Zondagh on drums. These are exciting musicians that have all played together at various points and seemed like the right fit for a jazz band that could embrace all styles and flavours of music, as well as create some energy through their performance. Juice will be on the Coke stage at 11:30 this Saturday at the Alliance Francaise Street Music Festival 🎶🎵
Zambuktu
Joe Van Der Linden and Tim Hopwood began their collaborations twenty years ago, initially with Tim providing photographic imagery for performances by Joe and a variety of fellow musicians. In 2008 they began recording music together, and a few years later began performing together periodically, launching an official duo under the name Zambuktu in 2015. Come and dance away to their uniquely South African sound this Saturday at the Alliance Française Street Music Festival. They’ll be on the Coke stage from 12:30.
MzeeSax
MzeeSax is a jazz musician from Uitenhage, Kwa-Nobuhle. A saxophonist, his sound is a fusion of jazz, kwaito, deep house and soul music. MzeeSax has shared the stage with local and international artists and will be taking the stage at the Alliance Francaise Street Music Festival. Catch him on the Coke stage from 13:00!
Rhys Pegram
Rhys Pegram, spent many of his formative years honing his craft as a singer-songwriter and guitarist. During his time studying at Mandela university, he started recording and producing demos of his songs. Since releasing three singles, Rhys is busy putting the final touches on his anticipated EP. Come and enjoy the alternative-pop sounds of Rhys Pegram at the Alliance Francaise Street Music Festival this Saturday. He’ll be on the Alliance stage from 14:00.
Deon Mattheus & Friends
What started as a joke by a friend to write and record original music during the pandemic ended up in a full studio album with another one on the way! Deon Mattheus, his daughter Michelle and four other pro muso’s from our city will perform a mix of Deon’s original material from both albums 🎶 Catch them on the Coke stage at 2:30!
Mandlamakulu
It was only few years ago when Mandlamakhulu was in the South African Navy that she fully discovered her singing and songwriting talent. Hailing from Motherwell, Mandlamakulu describes herself as a multi-genre singer with the intention to heal through music. Come and enjoy her indie, afro soul fusion tunes this coming Saturday from 15:30!
Franky & the Misfits
When you think of Franky & the Misfits think of the smooth, suave sounds of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Michael Buble and Robbie Williams. This nine piece swing jazz band promises an entertaining performance whilst still honouring the music of the golden era of jazz. Franky & the Misfits take to the Coke Stage at 16:00 🎶
S'bane
S’bane is an all-women acapella quartet project born in the Eastern Cape, consisting of four voices ranging from soprano to baritone 🎤 The members of the group are Ntlantla Swana, Viwo Kulati, Sizukiwe Vimbani and Wandithanda Makandula. S’bane specialise in 4 part acapella arrangements of local jazz and tributes to South Africa’s greatest female singers. Unathi Ntlabathi will be featuring in this beautiful set. Don’t miss this one! Mosaic

Love Seed
Love Seed established her love for music through years of experimenting and exploring with different genres, such as classical, gospel, pop, jazz and R&B. After performing in groups such as Lovelilly and Southern Six she is working on her solo career, offering an infusion of soulful African sounds. Love Seed’s aim is to create a movement through her art and make a difference in the world by being a ‘seed of love’ to those who are imprisoned by cruel circumstances of life. Catch her on the Coke stage from 18:30.
Nosisi Mavela
Nosisi Mavela has been passionate about music since she was a very young child. She started singing in her local church choir and at the age of 15, joined the New Brighton Township band and has never looked back 🎤Nosisi has since worked with many renowned South African artists such as the late Stompie Mavi and Victor Ntoni. She’s also worked with the likes of Tsepo Tsola, Marah Louw, Joe Nina, Feya Faku, Lawrence Matshiza, McCoy Mrubata, Gloria Bosman and the legendary Abigail Kubeka. Nosisi has also pursued her artwork in musical theatre, working with the likes of Sibongile Khumalo and Sibongile Mngoma. Skank & Roots
The award winning Skank and the Roots is a reggae band from Nelson Mandela Bay that was originally formed in the early 90’s by a diverse group of individuals who share the same vision and passion for music 🎶 The band has a groovy roots reggae sound, led by the energetic voice of charismatic lead singer Eric “Skank” Mooi. According to the bassist Mkhangeli “MK” Matiwane , each original song carries strong emotions and positive message. Skank and The Roots are known for pulling people off their chairs onto the dance floor so come along and dance under the stars in the streets of Richmond Hill 🥳 Catch Skank and Roots on the Coke Stage from 21:00!
