TEF
TEF (Test d’évaluation de français) is a certification issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris Ile-de-France. It is an international reference test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French. The validity of the results is two years.
THE TEF IS OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED BY:

- The French Ministry of National Education
- the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation
- the French Ministry of the Interior
- the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada
- the Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration of Quebec
- the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration

WHY TAKE THE TEF EXAM?
- Join a school / university
- Obtain French or Swiss nationality with the TEF Integration, Residence and Nationality
- Obtain the residence card in France with the TEF Integration, Residence and Nationality
- Immigrate to Canada and obtain Canadian citizenship with the TEF Canada
- Immigrate to Quebec with the TEF Quebec (TEFAQ)
HOW IS THE TEF ASSESSED?
The tests are evaluated using a scale of 7 levels, from level 0 to level 6.
This scale refers to the 6 levels (A1 to C2) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe and to the 12 Canadian/Quebec language proficiency levels.
The written comprehension, oral comprehension and lexicon and structure tests are in the form of multiple-choice questionnaires.
The written expression test consists of writing two everyday writings (assessed by two independent correctors).
The oral expression test consists of two role plays corresponding to everyday situations.
