The organisers of the highly successful annual Richmond Hill Street Music Festival have decided to postpone the one day event.
Municipality have decided that they will not support the festival with their sponsorship of the past 3 years. The festival has become a favorite annual event in our Metro. It is the only annual festival that aims to promote diversity as its main objective and has been extremely successful at that.’ The festival is a major joint promotion between the Alliance Française and the Nelson Mandela Bay City Council. This partnership has helped to build the festival over a period of approximately 7 years since its inception in 2010.
We know and we see the work of hundreds of people over the years being swept aside. Many local musicians. crafters, food trucks and restaurants rely on the festival as an earnings opportunity and we apologize for this situation, as well as to the people of Richmond Hill, who have always supported us.
Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to keep this festival alive. The teams at the Alliance Française of Port Elizabeth and our valued partner Magnetic Storm are looking for ways to keep the festival going.
